What Certified Mail provides

USPS describes Certified Mail as providing a mailing receipt and verification of delivery or an attempted delivery. Return Receipt is a separate service that provides a delivery record including a signature. These are distinct from ordinary postal progress updates.

Postedly’s current catalog describes its certified service as USPS certified mail with a tracking number. Do not assume that a return receipt, restricted delivery, or another extra service is included. Use only the mailing options supported by the selected product and quote.

Start with a finished PDF

Use an unencrypted PDF, at most 10 MiB, with portrait US Letter pages measuring 8.5 × 11 inches. Save your final wording into the file before requesting a quote. Postedly prints the file you approve.

  • A separate address page is added to letters and certified mail. Review its placement in the final proof.
  • The upload system accepts PDFs with 1–50 pages, but this is not a mailing allowance. The current letter service permits at most six physical sheets including its address sheet; the selected mailing and printing options can have lower page limits.
  • A document that uploads successfully can still fail the service-specific quote checks. Follow the returned page or size correction before trying again.

Prepare one certified mailing

  1. Confirm the required mailing method.

Check the recipient’s instructions and your purpose before selecting the service. This guide explains the sending workflow and does not establish whether a mailing satisfies a legal notice or filing requirement.

  2. Choose Certified mail.

Check availability, transfer the finished PDF, and provide complete US sender and recipient addresses. Ask for the exact mailing service to be shown in the quote.

  3. Approve the final proof and total.

Review the added address page and every document page. Confirm addresses, service, estimated timing, and total before proceeding to payment.

  4. Retain the order and available evidence.

Check the existing order for provider updates and any returned tracking information. A payment receipt alone does not establish mailing or delivery.

Example request
Use Postedly to prepare a certified mail quote for this finished PDF and the US address I provide. Show the supported mailing service, final proof, recipient, and total. Do not add unconfirmed return-receipt or signature options. Wait for my approval before payment.

Timing and what the status means

Printing and postal transit take several business days. Use the estimate shown in your quote; it is not a guaranteed arrival date.

Order updates can show preparation, printing, and postal progress. A sent update or estimated arrival does not necessarily confirm that the recipient received the item. Read the sending record for the evidence actually available.
